Fashion — 2009
Banner
This banner was made by protestors at the G20 summit held in the City of London in April 2009. It was donated to the Museum of London by a participant in Occupy London's 'Bank of Ideas' on Sun Street in Hackney. The building, owned by the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS), was occupied on 18 November 2011. The occupation came to an end when protestors were evicted by bailiffs and police in the early hours on 30 January 2012 following a High Court ruling.
At the same time the Earl Street Community Centre, part of the same building complex, was also evicted. The Earl Street Community Centre was a squat originally established by protestors as a 'convergence space' during the G20 summit.
