Bowl
Part of a decorated samian ware bowl, form Dragendorff 37, made at Lezoux, Central Gaul, by the potter Birrantus. Decorated with panel design including gladiator figures. small figures including cupids, and foliate infill including tendrils with tulip terminals. The sherds have been burnt, turning the red clay darker. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire.
