A Roman or early Saxon bone artefact, probably a needle case, dating to the 4th or 5th century AD. All four sides are decorated with ring and dot motifs. This is a very interesting object as this type of needle case is very rare in Britain, though quite common on the continent in north German cremation cemeteries.
