Mr J.T. Johnson as George Harris
Handcoloured theatrical souvenir sheet engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr JT Johnson in the role of George Harris from the play Uncle Tom's Cabin. Marked No.285'. Such plates would have been sold as theatrical souvenirs. The play was adapted from Mrs Harriet Beecher Stowe's newly-published anti-slavery novel of the same name. It was a hit, running from the start of the season all the way through to panomime season at the Surrey Theatre in 1852,
