The Peter and Paul
Mary Hanson issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for her business at the sign of St Peter and St Paul, in Trinity Lane.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3231; Obv inscription: MARY.HANSON.AT.YE.PETER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = AN / PAVL Bust of St Peter with keys and St Paul with sword (text in Roman capitals above and below sign, in field); Rev inscription: AND. PAVL. IN. TRINITY. LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HER / HALFE / PENY / 1668 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
Trinity Lane (now Great Trinity Lane and Little Trinity Lane), lies in Vintry Ward, Cordwainer Ward, Bread Street Ward and Queenhithe Ward, in the City of London.
