The Black Boy
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Black Boy tavern, in Ratcliffe, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2371; Obv inscription: AT.THE.BLACK.BOAY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A naked boy holding a mug and a pipe (in field); Rev inscription: IN.RATCLIF.1651 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = N.E.V. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
