The Prince of Wales' Feathers
Michael Temple issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Three Feathers tavern in Cloth Fair.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 690; Obv inscription: MIKHILL.TEMPLE (around field in Roman capitals, in field) Device = The Prince of Wales' feathers (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CLOATH.FAIRE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = M.A.T. (triad of initials in field, in Roman capitals).
The tavern name is recognisable by the use of the Prince of Wales' feathers (three feathers) as its symbol.
