The Spread Eagle
Robert Risbey issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Double-Headed Eagle in Chandos Street, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 535; Obv inscription: ROB.RISBEY.IN.SHANDOES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A double-headed eagle (in field); Rev inscription: STREET.IN.COVENT.GARDEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / R.A.R. (four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
