Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of the Roman Republic. The coin depicts Roma, the female personification of Rome and Jupiter, king of the Roman gods. This coin was minted under the authority of the moneyers, Q. Curtius and M. Junius Silanus, in Northern Italy, 109 BC.
Obv: Helmeted head of Roma, facing right, with an X behind her head. Obv inscription: Q. CVRT. Rev: Jupiter, advancing right in a quadriga (a chariot), hurling a thunderbolt and holding a sceptre, with a lituus (crook) above. Rev inscription: M SIA [ROMA].
