Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts Providentia, the female personification of foreseeing. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 116-117.
Obv: Draped and laureate bust of Trajan, facing right. Obv inscription: [IMP] CAES NER TRAIAN OPTIM AVG GERM [DAC]. Rev: Providentia, standing left, leaning on a column, holding a sceptre in her left hand and pointing with her right hand towards a large globe, by her feet to the left. Rev inscription: PARTHICO [PM TR P COS] VI PP SPQR, PRO VID in field.
