Plane, snipe bill moulding plane
This snipe bill moulding plane, one of a pair, was made by George Berry and owned by W Gray. It forms part of a large set of moulding planes housed in an early 19th century toolchest. A metal name plate found in one of the drawers of the toolchest is marked 'W Gray, Cavendish Grove, Wandsworth Road'. Gray was living in this area in the mid 19th century.
The plane was designed for finishing off non-standard mouldings after the main profile had been worked with a common hollow or round plane.
