Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1832-1846
London. From the upper gallery of the steeple of St Bride's Church
This finely hand-coloured engraving presents a panoramic view of London as seen from the upper gallery of the steeple of St Bride’s Church to the west. The huge edifice St Paul’s Cathedral dominates the centre of the image, with the River Thames at the right and Farringdon Road at the bottom. This is one of a pair of engravings by Thomas Allom; the other depicts the view east from the upper gallery of St Paul’s.
